
Marlene trained as a Textile Designer, Artist and Teacher. Her teaching experience includes working in a highly successful multi-cultural comprehensive school in the Greater London area and other high performing school environments. Consequently she now combines a number of specialist educational roles across the primary and secondary phases of education.
Her work as a Teaching and Learning Consultant in the Inner City London Borough of Hackney, as well as London Regional Subject Advisory work for Art, Design and Technology has enabled many opportunities to engage subject leaders with pedagogy and improving practice. She is a facilitator and creative coach with particular expertise in the creative and cross-curricular dimensions of the curriculum. Marlene’s education experience and thoughtful approach to detail are much valued by clients.
Marlene has an understanding of curriculum design and implementation that is valued by a number of national organisations such as The National Society of Education in Art and Design (NSEAD) where she is a Board and Curriculum Council Member; she is also a consultant member of The National Association of Advisers and Inspectors in Design and Technology (NAAIDT) and The Design and Technology Association (DATA). She has reviewed and written articles for these subject associations, developed inclusion and assessment materials and given keynotes and lead lectures to a diverse range of audiences.
